Yuma, Arizona, September 7, 2012 â€“ Chaplains from both YPG and MCAS will be the dinner speakers for the September meeting of the Yuma Council of the Navy League. The meeting is Thursday, September 20th at Emerald Springs , 1475 So. 46th Avenue, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The event is open to a limited number of non-member visitors with advance reservations at a cost of $15 per person.
LCDR James Bradshaw, a Navy Chaplain, is currently serving as Station Chaplain for Marine Corp Air Station â€“ Yuma. Major Loren Hutsell began his military career in the Navy Reserve, but soon joined the Army and is now serving at Yuma Proving Ground as Installation Chaplain.
Both have extensive experience and bring a wealth of knowledge to the Yuma community. LCDR Bradshaw earned a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Doctor of Ministry from Knox Theological Seminary. He is a self-proclaimed enthusiastic of â€œmuscle carsâ€ having restored a Z06 Corvette and a 1966 Shelby GT 350. Major Hutsell was born to American missionary parents while they served in Paraguay, and lived most of his childhood in South America. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in California.
Hutsellâ€™s deployments to Iraq included assignments to combat hospitals in Al-Assad, Mosul, and Tikrit. Bradshaw has been stationed at sea (USS Anzio) or deployed (Iraq) most of his military career. The Chaplains will be speaking on their experiences serving in and with our armed forces.
