On June 16, 2016, at approximately 0710 hours, Brawley resident Victor J. Gonzalez, 46, was riding his 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on SR-115 approaching the intersection with Norrish Road. Luciano G. Martinez, 43, of Yuma, was driving his 2016 Volvo Semi pulling a set of doubles southbound on SR-115 and was making a left turn unto Norrish Road ahead of Gonzalez. Gonzalez failed to observe Martinez’ vehicle ahead of his location causing his motorcycle his motorcycle to collide with the rear of Martinez’ pull trailer. Gonzalez, who was wearing his motorcycle helmet, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the impact.

Martinez was unaware of the collision due to the motorcycle colliding with the bottom portion of the dock bumper of his pull trailer. Martinez, who initially drove away from the scene, was made aware of the collision by a witness to the collision, and immediately returned to the collision scene.

The collision remains under investigation.
