OCOTILLO — US Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an illegal alien Tuesday, July 28, convicted of a sexual offense, according to a press release.
The incident occurred at around 5:08 p.m., when agents assigned to the Mountain Disrupt Unit working in the Jacumba Wilderness apprehended an illegal alien. The illegal alien was placed under arrest and transported to El Centro Station for further processing.
At the station, agents conducted a criminal background investigation and medical screening. During the investigation, record checks revealed the man, a 42-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, had a conviction March 14, 2010, for “Felony Lewdness with a child under 16 years old” out of Nye County in Nevada. The illegal alien was sentenced to 156 months confinement for his conviction.
Additionally, an Immigration Judge had previously ordered the illegal alien removed from the United States September 23, 2005.
The illegal alien was processed criminally for eight USC 1326 Reentry of Removed Aliens.
In fiscal year 2020, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and removed 41 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges after they entered the United States illegally.
