Border Patrol Arrests a Mexicles Gang Member

CALEXICO — US Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested a gang member Thursday, October 15, according to a press release.

The incident occurred at around 5:29 a.m., when agents assigned to the Calexico Station observed a man illegally enter the United States. Agents apprehended the man approximately one mile east of the Calexico Downton Port of Entry and transported him to the El Centro Sector Rally Point for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that the man — a 47-year-old illegal alien from Honduras — is a documented Mexicles gang member with a prior conviction for 8 USC 1325, Entry Without Inspection. Record checks also revealed the man has an aggravated felony conviction for robbery with a gun in the First Degree in 2010 out of Houston, Texas. The man was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and was removed from the United States back to Honduras on July 28, 2020.

The gang member is being held in federal custody pending criminal prosecution.
