CALEXICO — El Centro Sector Border Patrol seized narcotics thrown over the international boundary fence between Mexico and the United States in two separate events this week, according to a press release.
The first incident occurred Monday, January 11, at approximately 10 p.m., near the intersection of G. Anaya Avenue and Second Street. Agents working in the Calexico downtown area seized an abandoned electrical tape-wrapped package laying on the ground.
The second incident occurred Tuesday, January 12, just after 7 a.m., near the intersection of Heber Avenue and First Street. Agents working in the area seized an abandoned package near the International Boundary Fence.
The agents transported the packages back to the Calexico Border Patrol Station for further processing.
The seized packages yielded a positive result for the characteristics of methamphetamine when they were tested. The total weight of the methamphetamine discovered was nearly 2 pounds with an estimated value of $4,500.
El Centro Sector turned over the narcotic packages to the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
