BRAWLEY – A team of road bike riders with the Bike 4 Friendship Ride passed through Brawley Monday on their way from Los Angeles to New York.

Ten riders braved the scorching heat as they rolled into Brawley from Julian at about 11:00 a.m with their support vehicles in tow.

The riders met with Brawley Mayor George Nava at city hall and were given some water and a chair as the mayor gave them a brief history on the community.

The Bike 4 Friendship Ride offers the opportunity to ride across the country in a coast-to-coast challenging bike ride.

The Bike 4 Friendship Ride raises funds to benefit Friendship Circle, an international non-profit organization that provides programs and support to the families of individuals with special needs.

The riders are encouraged to spread the message of goodness and kindness along the way as they meet with city mayors and do press interviews.

Mayor Nava graciously bestowed the honor of Mayor for the Day to Chaim Safier, one of the riders of Bike 4 Friendship.

All riders were given a pin of the City of Brawley.

Nava also declared Monday, June29, Bike 4 Friendship Day in Brawley, Ca.
