Teamster president arrested for battery on Gold Cross Ambulance Employee

EL CENTRO – On Sunday, September 1, 2013, around 1:15 PM officers from the El Centro Police Department responded to a call for service at the Gold Cross Ambulance office, in the 900 block of South Imperial Avenue.

The office manager, a 50 year old male, and 42 year old Phillip Farias, the president of Teamsters Local 542, had gotten into a verbal altercation which ended in Farias stepping on the office manager’s foot and pushing him.


The victim placed Farias under private person’s arrest.  Police obtained video evidence of the incident and Farias, a resident of El Cajon was taken into custody.  The victim suffered no injury that required medical attention.


Farias was booked into the Imperial County Jail, and charged with battery.  His bail was set at $750.00.  The report will be forwarded to the Imperial County District Attorney to review for prosecution.
