Spring blockbusters

CALEXICO — Metropolitan Theatres Corporation announced the reopening of Calexico 10 Theatres on Friday, March 26.  The theatre is located at 2441 Scaroni Avenue in Calexico. Movie-goers will be welcomed back to the cinema just as blockbusters reemerge on the big screen with the likes of Godzilla versus Kong on March 31, The Unholy coming in April, and the highly anticipated Quiet Place 2 opening Memorial Day weekend, according to a press release. Ticket prices remain at the consumer-friendly price of $5 with a small surcharge for 3D movies.

The Theatre’s reopening will feature enhanced safety procedures in accordance with current local guidelines, and will take a three-step approach in creating awareness of these measures:

Theatre Experience Safety Procedures: The moviegoer will be alerted to what they can expect and experience when they enter the theatre.

Employee Safety Procedures:  Guests will be advised of the plan to keep both employees and guests safe.

Food and Concessions Safety Procedures:  Details the safety precautions taken for food service at the theatre.

Metropolitan Theatres has aligned with, created by the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), to voluntarily follow a set of health and safety protocols developed by a team of industry experts based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Metropolitan Theatres also introduces Your Private Screening, offering intimate movie screenings of new theatrical releases for up to 20 family and friends for $99, or guests can bring their own Blu-ray for $75. A $5 booking fee will apply. To add to the exclusive experience, guests can pre-order concessions to be delivered right to their seat.

To provide contactless ticketing, tickets can be purchased at or on the new Metropolitan Theatres mobile app which is available for free download on iTunes or Google Play.

“We are excited to welcome our guests back to the movies.  We have missed the daily contact with them but have been busy formulating reopening plans with enhanced safety procedures so we may open responsibly,” said David Corwin, president. “Our guest’s health and safety remain our top priority, and we appreciate their trust and confidence in us as we reopen our theatres.”
