EL CENTRO — The City of El Centro announced it has been awarded a $550,000 grant by the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) through the CARES Act Recovery Assistance. The supplemental grant was awarded to alleviate the sudden and severe economic dislocation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the community, according to a press release.

The City said the grant will provide business assistance loans that range from $15,000 to $50,000. In order to qualify, businesses must be located within the City limits of El Centro, have a valid business license, and must be able to demonstrate a negative impact to business operations due to COVID-19.
