EL CENTRO — Governor Newsom issued Executive Order N-29-20 that replaces and revises the Bagley-Keene Act and Brown Act provisions from the Executive Order issued on March 12.

This language relates to the convening of public meetings considering the COVID-19 pandemic. The County of Imperial hereby provides notice that it will continue to convene its regularly scheduled public meetings of the Board of Supervisors in the Board Chambers, as provided in the publicly posted agenda notice, until further notice.

Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order, and to maintain the orderly conduct of the meeting, the County of Imperial will allow Supervisors of the Board to attend the meeting telephonically and to participate in the meeting to the same extent as if they were present.

Through the guidance of our Public Health Officer, California Department of Public Health and the California Governor’s Office, in order to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus, please review and follow the recommendations below:

  1. The new language specifically states that there is no requirement for state or local legislative bodies to make a physical location available from which the public can make public comment, so long as options to participate telephonically or electronically are provided. Local bodies must still follow noticing requirements and implement a procedure for resolving requests for accommodation from individuals with disabilities.
  2. You are strongly encouraged to listen to the live audio and video stream of the Board of Supervisors meetings at
  3. Should you wish to provide public comment on a specific item on the agenda and/or general public comment, please submit your comment via email to the Clerk of the Board at no later than 2:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to the Board meeting.
  4. If you are planning to attend the Board of Supervisors meeting in person you will be required to maintain appropriate social distancing i.e. maintain a six-foot distance between yourself and other individuals.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Clerk of the Board’s Office at 442-265-1020.
