Andrew Skipper

July 30, 1939 – October 9, 2016

On the morning of Sunday, October 9th, Andrew Skipper went to rest peacefully surrounded by his family at home.

Andrew was born July 30, 1939 in Breaux Bridge, LA to Beatrice and Andrew Sr.  The first of nine children, including: Sue Hawkings, Johnny Skipper, Earlene Rogers, Jean Bell, James Skipper, Gilbert Skipper, Gerri Harris and Diane Adams.

Andrew moved at the age of twenty one to Brawley, CA with his mother and siblings.  He grew strong roots to the Imperial Valley and very strong friendships as well.

It was in Brawley, that Andrew met his wife, Carmen Skipper, and worked extremely hard to provide the very best for Carmen and his two children, twins, Andrew III and Martin Skipper.  Daughter, Fairy, from a previous relationship grew up out of state.

He was a very hard worker, and committed to his position as a supervisor at the same grain mill since the age of twenty-one, until two months ago; when doctors found he was gravely ill.

Sports were Andrew’s favorite pastimes.  He took great pride in watching his boys excel on the field.  Later in life, he enjoyed watching football and baseball.  He was an upstanding father and husband who will be greatly missed.

A Mass will be held for Andrew on Friday, October 21 at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Ed Horning officiating. Visitation for Andrew will be Friday, October 21 at Frye Chapel and Mortuary at 8:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 8:30 a.m. Andrew will be buried at Riverview Cemetery after Mass.
