EL CENTRO — Families with children made their way to the Imperial Valley Mall this past Sunday for the 5th Annual Baby and Children’s Expo Resource Fair to learn about the many different programs offered in the Imperial Valley for raising children.

“There’s a lot of information,” said Mariza Soto from Brawley.

The event was funded by Imperial County Children and Families First Commission in partnership with the EL Centro Regional Medical Center.

The event has gained new participants each year and has become an annual favorite for the community according to Public Relations Specialist and event organizer, Richard Morales.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation had a booth to answer questions and provide information for the first time, according to Make-A-Wish Volunteer Marianela Camarillo.

“It would be really nice to fulfill the wishes of children in the valley that are eligible for the program,” said Camarillo.

Jose Perdomo from Brawley attended the event with his family, to look for information on preschools for his son, Luis Emilio Perdomo, age 2.

“Its a good outreach program, to see what’s out here,” Perdomo said, “It’s really nice.”

“Education continues, it doesn’t stop here,” said Morales.

Next year’s event has already been scheduled for February 7, 2016.

If you were unable to attend the event and would like to receive information on any of the services provided int the Imperial Valley, Morales can be contacted at or office number 760-482-5190.
