el-centro-police-department logoEL CENTRO – On July 23, 2013, in the early afternoon hours, El Centro Police officers served a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 1200 block of Heil Avenue.  With the assistance of the CHP drug detection canine and members of the Imperial Valley Street Interdiction Team, officers found a small amount of marijuana and over three ounces of methamphetamine with a street value of $8,000.00.

The homeowner, 41 year old Catherine Gonzalez, was arrested and booked into the Imperial County Jail.  She was charged with possession of drugs for sale. Currently she is being held on $40,000.00 bail.

“The house was set up for the sale of narcotics, officers found a digital scale inside, and a series of video surveillance cameras outside of the home”, said Commander Jeff Mason.

“Our officers received information about the suspicious activity of Gonzalez at the Heil address earlier this month, and they conducted an investigation which lead to the service of the search warrant”, Mason said.
