ESCONDIDO — Both Brawley Union and Holtville highs competed in the annual Jim Londos Memorial wrestling tournament at Orange Glenn High School here Saturday.

Brawley finished second overall as a team falling only behind Poway High.

The Wildcats brought home four champions and a handful of other placers.

For Brawley, Joseph Meier won the 106-pound weight class, Victor Gonzalez won the 138-pound class, Gilbert Carrillo won the 152-pound division and Daniel Jauregui won the 195-pound weight class.

Along with his championship, Gonzalez also received the Outstanding Lower Weight award.

Also for the Wildcats, Bren Pinedo took fourth at 113, Luis Bravo placed sixth at 120, Charlie Valdivia finished sixth at 145 pounds, Luis Chavez placed fifth at 170 and Dane Martinez took third at 220 pounds.

For the Vikings, Jimmy Zarate placed second at heavyweight and Ethan Hernandez took sixth place at 113 pounds.

On Friday, Brawley will travel to compete in the 5 Counties tournament in Huntington Beach.
