EL CENTRO – On Saturday, August 6, at approximately 9:32 a.m., a male driving a 2002 GMC Yukon, heading westbound on State Route 98, west of Anderholt Road, in an unincorporated area of Imperial County.
The driver turned the vehicle to the left and drove into the eastbound lane of traffic. The driver then turned hard to the right.
The GMC skidded in a northwesterly direction across the westbound lane and west asphalt shoulder and ran off the north paved road edge of State Route 98.
The GMC traveled in a northwesterly direction along the north dirt shoulder for a short distance and then overturned.
There was a total of 10 passengers in the GMC at the time of this traffic collision. Some of the passengers were injured and transported by Gold Cross to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
The names of the driver and all passengers are not available at this time.
The driver and all passengers were taken into custody by agents of The United States Border Patrol.
This investigation is ongoing and all of this information is preliminary and subject to modification as this investigation continues.
