EL CENTRO â€“ The Imperial Valley Vegetable Growers Association (IVGA) is pleased to announce three scholarship opportunities for 2014.
The first is the long-standing Produce Industry Scholarship which will award a minimum of one (1) $1000.00 scholarship and at least two others smaller scholarships.
The second is their partnership with Farm Credit Services Southwest to award one (1) $1500 scholarship.
The third is a new scholarship program, named for Philip Vessey, to award up to two (2) $1000.00 scholarship.
Kay Day Pricola, executive director of the IVGA said, â€œWe are pleased the Vessey family chose the Imperial Valley Vegetable Growers Association to manage the Memorial Scholarship of their son.â€
All three scholarships require the applicant to attend a four-year college, major in a recognized agricultural program and have a 2.5 minimum grade point average.
The Vessey Scholarship has an additional criterion that the recipient is or will be a graduate of Holtville High School.
All applications must be completed and returned by April 18, 2014.
