IMPERIAL – The Imperial Tigers’ baseball team took on the Brawley Wildcats last Tuesday evening on their home field. The rivals battled it out on the diamond with each team putting up a strong fight, but in the end the Wildcats scored a 7-0 victory.

The game started with the Tigers matching everything the Wildcats offered. This battle of strengths left the first inning scoreless; a trend that continued on into the sixth inning.

Both teams had their shares of good hits, but neither made it on the board. That is, until the Wildcats shattered the game’s scoreless streak. The Wildcats broke through the Tigers’ tight defense and put a run on the board. In the next few innings, the Wildcats were able to keep their momentum going and score six more runs, ending the game with a 7-0 win.

For the Wildcats, Tristen Carranza led offensively going 3-5 with 3 RBI’s. Following Carranza was Dylan Reyna who was 1-2 with 1 RBI and following Reyna was AJ Grijalva who was 2-4.

For the Tigers, Manuel Rojas led the team offensively going 2-3. Following him was JC Luna, who went 1-2.

The Wildcats will next face the Yellow Jackets Friday April 24th at 6:30 p.m. and the Tigers will face the Calexico Bulldogs in Calexico also on Friday at 3:15 p.m.
