EL CENTRO – Tien Tan Vo, MD currently serving as a Hospitalist at ECRMC, will be taking over the General Practice of retiring Dr. John M. Strong, family practitioner in El Centro.
Dr. Strong established the practice in 2000 and recently retired with the intent of conducting a medical mission in South America. He determined that if a suitable replacement was not found to take over his practice he would close it entirely.
“I know Dr. Vo and his wife will continue my mission of maintaining healthy patients. This is the quality of doctor to whom I want my family members and old Valley friends to have access to,” said Dr. Strong. “They are both energetic, enthusiastic, talented, driven and highly ethical. I leave my practice in his more than capable hands.”
Dr. Vo, along with his wife Venus Nguyen, RN, soon to be an NP, officially assumed the practice on June 28, 2014. Office hours have been expanded to include Monday – Friday from 8am to 8pm and Saturday from 8am to Noon. It was an important adjustment to offer after hours and weekends to allow flexibility for working families.
In addition to longer hours, walk-ins and most insurance plans will be accepted. While walk-ins are welcome, appointments are encouraged. It is anticipated that patients with appointments will be seen within 15 minutes of their scheduled appointment times.
The practice will also hold clinics and workshops to promote wellness and help their patients avoid health issues, promoting the “prevention is key” model of medicine.
“We look forward to becoming more involved in the community,” said Dr. Vo. “And are grateful for the opportunity to work with Dr. Strong’s existing patients. We also welcome new patients.”
The practice will offer general family medicine, non-surgical cosmetic services, as well as services for women and children. Nguyen anticipates completing her certification as a nurse practitioner later this year and will be focusing on women and children.
The husband and wife team are not new to the Valley. Both Dr. Vo and Nguyen have experience working in the Imperial Valley. Dr. Vo has served as a medical director for ECRMC for more than a year and as a hospitalist for ECRMC, Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District, and Yuma Regional Medical Center since 2011. Nguyen has served as a Medical-Surgical Nurse at ECRMC since 2012.
Dr. Vo received his MD from Ross University and completed internship and residency at the Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He’s served as a Hospitalist throughout the nation for seven years and is licensed to practice medicine in the States of California, New York and Arizona.
Nguyen received her RN from Mohave Community College and a BA in Healthcare Management at State University of New York. She’s currently in the process of completing her MSN/FNP at United States University in Chula Vista. Her experience includes acute care, family practice medicine, pediatric medicine, gynecological services, psychiatry, dermatology and more.
