IMPERIAL — The Edge radio station hosted its 4th Annual 5K run at Imperial Valley College Saturday with proceeds going to help support the 95.3 FM Christian radio station and Youth for Christ groups.

Although turnout was not as large as expected, 40 runners participated, and Leonardo Banales finished with a time of 17:45 for first place. The larger event was followed by a one-mile junior run divided into  boys and girls classes.

“We come out here to support our radio station and Youth for Christ group, and we did that,” said Victor Nuno, station director. “It is also nice to get families to come together and show them a little about what The Edge is about.”

The annual 5K brings in funding for The Edge radio station, a non-profit organization, and they also look for ways to help out their business by giving back to the people of the community.

“We had a successful morning with the 5K run and the junior run, despite the lower numbers of participants this year, and we look forward to the other events we put on throughout the year,” said Nuno.
