Motorhome reported in flames
NILAND – On November 18, Sheriff’s, along with the fire department, responded to Slab City where a motorhome was reported in flames. The fire was detained successfully, and no injuries were reported. The fire was said to be accidental.

Fatal accident on Evan Hewes Highway
EL CENTRO – On November 9, at approximately 1:33 p.m., El Centro CHP officers responded to a single fatal injury traffic collision involving a 2009 Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle on Evan Hewes Highway, west of Brown Road. Investigations revealed the driver, identified as a 67-year old male, El Cajon resident, was traveling on the north road edge of Evan Hewes Highway and overturned on the dirt shoulder causing the driver to eject onto the dirt shoulder. The driver was located lying on its right side facing in the northwesterly direction. The collision is currently under investigation.

Fatal accident on Wilkins Road
NILAND – On November 14, at approximately 3:05 p.m., the driver of a 2002 Toyota Tundra, identified as Niland resident Ignacio De Solorio, 34, was traveling eastbound on Wilkins Road, east of English Road, when the driver allowed the Toyota to run off the paved roadway and onto the south dirt shoulder overturning onto its right side. According to the CHP traffic report, the driver was wearing his lap and shoulder restraint, however, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The collision is currently under investigation.

Fatal accident on Highway 111
CALIPATRIA – On November 8, at approximately 5:40 a.m., El Centro CHP officers responded to the area of Highway 111 and North of Dowden Road involving a two-vehicle collision. The motorcycle driver of a 2016 Honda was traveling southbound on Highway 111 approaching Dowden Road at approximately 65 mph. Jose Arturo Aguilar, 57, who was driving a 2015 Ford Explorer steered to the left into the southbound lane of Highway 111 to avoid a coyote which was in the road directly in front of him. The Ford then struck the motorcycle head on, causing the motorcycle driver to be ejected from the motorcycle. The Ford continued southbound and then overturned onto the west direct shoulder. The motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the traffic collision The collision is still under investigation.
