Drug load vehicle
CALEXICO – On November 3, Calexico Police Officers were dispatched to the U.S. Port of Entry in reference to a vehicle loaded with 23.8 kilograms of marijuana. Suspect Nereida Ibarra, 27, was taken into custody and transported to the Imperial County jail for housing. The vehicle was towed and stored.

Man commits suicide in wife’s presence
BRAWLEY – On November 2, Imperial County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call on Highway 86 in reference to a threat of suicide. A woman caller advised dispatch that her husband had shot himself on the head with a rifle. According to the woman, her husband was very ill and depressed. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Possible fire detected
DESERT SHORES – On November 2, Imperial County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Tamarisk Drive where a woman reported seeing smoke and no flames. Upon their arrival, officers encountered a male subject burning wood in his backyard and advised the subject that a permit was required to burn. 

Off-roaders find deceased man
WINTERHAVEN (GORDON WELLS) – On November 3, Imperial County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Gordon Wells area in reference to reports of a deceased male found by off-roaders. The reporting person said while riding, they came across a deceased male subject underneath a blue Yamaha 450 4×4. Bureau of Land Management rangers were dispatched to the area and confirmed the man was deceased and informed the Imperial County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office.
