FONTANA — The Team California 16-and-under travel baseball team competed in the Just Wanna Play Ball tournament in fontana on September 12 and 13.
Team California won the first game 2-0. In the game, Leo Rodriguez got the win pitching six innings and Brandon Lopez got the save.
Team California won its next game 11-1 with Dylan Reina pitching four innings and only allowing one run.
In the championship game, Team California won 13-3 with Rober Brodell pitching five innings allowing three runs and Francisco Ruano delivered on offense with a three-run home run.
For the tournament Sebastian Cervantes went 9-for-13 at the plate.
“As a team we played really well,” said Ralph Lopez, team manager. “We hit very well with every player contributing at the plate and we only had three strikeouts against. We executed twelve bunts and four squeeze plays. Defensively we had no errors, which is rare, but we still have things to work on. Our pitchers did well. I wish I could have used more pitchers since we have ten on the team. This is our second tournament win in a row, so hopefully we can keep it going.”
