'Suspicious Package' Prompts Evacuation of Inland Social Security Office

MORENO VALLEY, CA – The Moreno Valley Social Security Office was evacuated for more than three hours after a suspicious bag was found in a nearby vacant field, police said Tuesday.

Officers responded to the suspicious bag around 1:20 p.m. Monday in the 22800 block of Calle San Juan de Los Lagos, and as a precautionary measure, evacuated the Social Security Office and closed the surrounding streets, Sgt. Aaron Kent said.

The Riverside County Hazardous Device Team and Moreno Valley Fire Department responded to assist in the investigation, Kent said.

An examination of the bag revealed no explosive or dangerous materials, he said.

The streets were reopened around 4:40 p.m.
