Suspect Arrested For Possession of Explosive Device



CALEXICO – On Monday, August 8 at approximately 12:49 a.m., Calexico officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Lincoln Street where an individual was suspected of carrying an explosive device. Officers conducted a search of the individuals backpack who stated he had a paint ball gun and a “cherry bomb fire cracker.” While searching, officers recovered a paintball gun and what appeared to be a homemade explosive device. The device was tubular in shape, approximately 5 inches long and 1 ½ inches wide and was wrapped in black tape with a wooden fuse sticking our one end. Based on the evidence located, the suspect was placed under arrest for possession of an explosive device.
