Spartans take down Tri-City Christian in CIF playoff

El Centro- This week the El Centro Spartans squared off against the Tri City Christian for round one of CIF gameplay. With suspense in the air the El Centro Spartans came out on top to move on to round two of CIF. The final score of the game was Central 61 and Tri City 50.


With this win their overall record comes to 19-2. The leading scorer for El Centro for the game was Saad Awan with 24 points. Gurkamal Pummay had 16 points to contribute to the team’s score. Also Diego Nararro and Brandon Argandoña both had 7 points and Jordan Ackie had a total of four points.


With these players banding together they worked the win.


“I feel like we accomplished enough to maintain our home court advantage,” said Couch Juan Valenzuela. “However we were a little lethargic because of the pressure of being in Division 3 for the first time in a few years.”


Couch Valenzuela went on to say, “We are better than we performed and are looking forward to showing that in the weeks to come.”
