EL CENTRO — The Southwest Eagles dominated the Central Spartans during their home game Tuesday night with a score of 3-0.

The teams remained scoreless until the fourth inning. Southwest scored three times between the fourth and fifth inning, bringing the score to 3-0 with the Southwest Eagles having their claws firmly gripped on the lead.

Central came up empty after looking to get back into the game at the top of the sixth. Defensive resolve held strong as they returned to the field. The Eagles’ Javi Tellez (#19) let off a good hit into the right outfield, but the Central defense caught the fly ball. Central’s pitcher C.J Bermudez (#25) then walked Southwest’s Gilbert Desilagua (#20). Central defense used the player on base to their advantage as they made a double play to close out the sixth inning.

The Central Spartans had one final inning to take the game and Alan Arce (#38) gave hope by a powerful hit into the far outfield, but it was caught by an Eagle defender and Southwest shut down the game.

Despite the Spartans’ efforts, they were unable to score before the seventh inning finished. The Southwest Eagles won Tuesday’s home conference game against their rival Central by a score of 3-0.
