Southwest Girls’ Soccer Takes Down Kearny Komets 7-0

EL CENTRO – The Southwest Eagles girls’ soccer team hosed the San Diego Kearny High School Komets 7-0  December 3, giving the Eagles another win to continue their great season start.

The Eagles found the back of the net early in the first half as starting forward Kaylee Drye
(#2) crossed to midfielder Daniella Valenzuela (#14) for a successful header.

Without wasting any time, the Eagles maneuvered their way back onto their opponent’s side of the field where Veronica Boothe (#3) kicked it in for a goal, making the score 2-0.

With the Kearney Komets still unable to produce any life on offense, the lady Eagles found themselves with another opportunity before the end of the first half.

The Eagles’ Drye  set up the play passing to teammate Destiny Zamora (#8), who blew one past the goalie for another goal.

Heading into halftime,  the Southwest Eagles went to the sidelines with a significant lead of 3-0 over the Komets.

The second half saw Southwest picking up where they left off as Drye found a chance to curve one by the goalie from behind the box.

Continuing to pressure Kearny with a great offense, Southwest’s Zamora scored her second goal of the cold morning by dribbling the ball past the goalie and right into the net, making the score 5-0.

The Eagles’ Shellsie Denis (#5) got her own chance as Southwest took the ball away from the Komets once again, and Denis scored, earning her team another goal.

The Eagles were able to drum up one last goal before the game ended, making the final score 7-0, giving Southwest their second win.
