EL CENTRO — It was a highly anticipated match as the Calexico Bulldogs (6-6) took on the Southwest Eagles (11-3-1) at Southwest Tuesday night.

There was no lack of fans for the game as both Bulldog and Eagles supporters filled the stands. The Eagles were first to score with an easy run in the middle of the first inning. Then Justyn Amaya (#22) amplified the Eagles’ lead with a quick home base steal while on third base. Calexico did not let this lead last very long as they were able to answer the deficit and keep the score close throughout the match.

Although Calexico had a solid batting squad, they were unable to keep up with the Eagles’ pitcher, Sergio Montano (#28), who was the star of the game. His quick pitches made it difficult for Calexico to get any major hits in. The dugout magnified Motano’s dominance by chanting “Feel The Surge!” every time Motano made a good pitch.

Ultimately, Southwest’s fast pitching and team support put them on top to narrowly win Tuesday’s home conference game by a score of 6-5.
