SUNBEAM LAKE – Whether it was walking, running, or cycling, hundreds participated in the 6th Annual Blue Angels 10K Run/Walk/Bike event Saturday morning that began promptly at 8 a.m. on Sunbeam Lake Road and ended at the Naval Air Facility’s Blue Angel Park.
Friends and family of those participating were shuttled to the Blue Angels Park where they cheered for their loved ones as they crossed the finish line, and participants received a commemorative t-shirt at the end of the course.
“I’m excited to see when my husband makes his way into the Navy base” said onlooker Mary Grijalva. “My husband was so excited to participate and had been talking about this for months.”
Refreshments, music, inflatable jumpers and free health screenings were available for all those present.
“It’s great to see so many people participating,” said Elizabeth Sanders. “I’ve seen so many families running and others cycling together, it’s very touching. I wish these kinds of events (had) existed when my children were young, I sure would have participated.”
