Sheriffs and Brawley PD arrest 2 for evading arrest by fleeing and warrants


sheriff vehicleBRAWLEY – At approximately 1230 p.m., an Imperial County Sheriff’s Sergeant attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle in Brawley that appeared to have expired registration.

The Sergeant activated his emergency lighting and siren in an attempt to get the vehicle to stop.

Instead of stopping, the vehicle accelerated away from the Sergeant heading northbound on Eastern Avenue. A short pursuit ensued (approximately a minute and a half) when the vehicle pulled into a driveway to a residence.

In an attempt to evade arrest the two subjects inside the vehicle jumped out of the vehicle as the vehicle continued rolling. The vehicle continued forward, crashing into an air conditioner where it came to rest. The two subjects jumped a fence and ran into an apartment. With the help of the Brawley Police Department the two subjects were taken into custody without incident and both were booked into County Jail.

No one was injured as a result of the pursuit.
