EL CENTRO – On Monday, December 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Cardenas Market parking lot, 1620 North Imperial Avenue, El Centro; Senator Ben Hueso along with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Kiwanis Club of El Centro will host a Child Car Seat Safety event to provide information on how to keep our children safe while driving.
California Highway Patrol officers was on hand to answer questions regarding child seat installation and compliance. They were also conducting child car seat installation inspections. This was a great opportunity to learn about car safety laws and child passenger safety requirements.
“On average, one person is killed every three hours and 5 minutes as a result of a traffic collision. This frightening number is more than enough reason to double check our personal vehicle safety standards. This event provides an opportunity for the community and law enforcement to work together to safeguard our children against vehicular injury,” said Senator Hueso.
“We want to personally meet our community members and promote safe driving. El Centro California Highway Patrol Area officers are always available to parents and caretakers interested in learning more about increasing their child’s safety while transporting them in a vehicle,” said Captain Kari Clark, California Highway Patrol.
“Our mission is to help local children and we are pleased to be partnering with the California Highway Patrol and Senator Ben Hueso in this worthwhile effort,” said Laurie Edwards, President, El Centro Kiwanis Club.
