EL CENTRO – Building on the momentum of the Interior Secretaries visit, the Salton Sea Authority discussed the possibility of expanding the number of board members.

The Authority met Thursday in El Centro. The proposal is to add local elected officials and possibly federal agencies, such as the Bureau of Reclamation, to their Board.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar toured the area December 14th.

He pledged support in the fight to find a solution to the dying Sea. Salazar also promised to provide $5 million to get the ball rolling, and invited local Salton Sea Authority members and other local representatives to Washington D.C. to discuss possible solutions and a plan that could include federal involvement.
