IMPERIAL – Wednesday night was full of FFA showmen from all over the valley competing in FFA Large Animal Round Robin. Each exhibitor had won in their own class of animal and qualified to show in Round Robin, which has them show each different livestock animal. This shows the extent of his or her knowledge regarding each animal. Large Animal Round Robin includes horses, lamb, dairy cow, steer, pig, dairy and meat goats.
Reece Presley, a member of Brawley FFA, was the winner of Large Animal Round Robin. Not only did she celebrate a win, but it was also her sixteenth birthday. The crowd filled the air with a “Happy Birthday” right after she received her winning buckle. Her sibling, Bryce Presley, had won Round Robin the night before so it was a happy occasion for the Presley family. Presley’s favorite part of the night was just having fun and getting to compete against all of her friends.
The Dill family of Brawley had three kids competing last night—truly making it a “family event”. Taylar (17) and Tanner Dill (17) are twins, as well as seniors at BUHS, and plan on studying animal science at Oklahoma State or New Mexico State University. Taylor plans on one day becoming a vet. Shelby (15), the youngest sibling, is a sophomore at BUHS. They placed in 4th, 5th and 6th place.
It was enjoyable to see the talent last night and the youth to be able to showcase their hard work from throughout the year. Competing in Round Robin requires countless studying and preparation and all who competed did a phenomenal job.
