EL CENTRO – In celebration of National Marriage Week, Project Juntos hosted Marriage Celebration and Date Night at Bucklin Park in El Centro from 4-7 PM on Thursday, February 13. The night consisted of free food, informational booths, live music, giveaways, and guest speakers.
Psychologist and speaker Jorge Espinoza said, “Based on surveys and studies, the happiest people are married, surprisingly enough. We’re here today to show that marriage works.” His presentation was to show those who attended that marriage is effective, along with tips and ideas to help marriages and relationships function better to create success.
Booths were set up to inform attendees and supply resources. These booths varied from Planned Parenthood to Exito IVROP, Behavioral Health Services to Best Buy.
Attendees were given a card at the beginning of the event in order to collect initials from those running the booths. Once all booths had initialed the cards, they were entered into a raffle. Prizes varied and were donated from sponsors at the booths.
