IMPERIAL – At the Regular Meeting of the City Council for the City of Imperial on March 16, 2016, Planning & Development Director Jeorge Galvan was named the Interim City Manager for the City of Imperial.
Jeorge Galvan is a certified planner and has been with the City of Imperial since 2007. Prior to his term with the City he worked as a City Planner on a consultant basis with the Holt Group. Mr. Galvan’s experience with private and public sector work includes a wide range of planning activities, such as project management for planned communities, conducting public hearings, and the preparation of Specific Plans, conditional use permit applications, environmental documentation, zone changes and general plan amendments.
Current City Manager Marlene Best stated that she felt Jeorge was a quality choice made by the Council. Marlene believes he will do a great job for the citizens and business owners of Imperial. Marlene took a position as the City Manager for the City of Santee, CA back in February and will be leaving at the end of this month.
Mr. Galvan will take his new position starting March 28, 2016. When asked what he hopes to accomplish as his time as Interim he responded “To finish the various projects Marlene started and keep the City moving forward. We want to get the Worthington Square development completed and open for business, move forward on the Radisson Inn, proceed with the relinquishment of SR 86, and last but not least hire a permanent City Manager in the coming months.”
