Pedestrian dies from being hit by car


el-centro-police-department logoEL CENTRO – The El Centro Police reported that Friday, April 11th, at approximately 9:13 pm, officers responded to a report of a traffic accident close to Imperial Avenue and Vine Street.

 The initial call to the police department, later verified by officers on scene, indicated that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian. 

Medical personnel from the El Centro Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance Service arrived at the scene of the accident to provide aid to a 60-year- old female resident of El Centro. 

She appeared to have been struck by a vehicle as she was attempting to cross Imperial Avenue. 

The woman was  transported to the El Centro Regional Medical Center where she later died from her injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 60- year- old resident of Holtville, California and was not injured in the collision. 

Preliminary investigation indicated the driver was not impaired or driving under the influence.
