HOLTVILLE — The Palo Verde Yellowjackets’ long trip to Holtville was well worth it as they took on the Holtville Vikings in an exciting baseball match Friday night.
The slow start was the calm before the storm. Not until the fourth inning did Palo Verde score their first run; Holtville answered quickly with a base run to tie, 1-1.
The fifth inning remained scoreless. Palo Verde’s Dylan Johnston (#5) decided to change that in the sixth inning as he stole base while on second making it home after a missed ball was thrown. The Yellowjackets then scored in the seventh putting them in the lead 1-3.
The home crowd cheered as the Vikings set up a promising play with all bases loaded in their last set of outs in the bottom of the seventh. Viking, Casey Laziola (#5) managed to get to home plate while on third to boost their score to 2-3, but ultimately the Vikings inconsistent batting made them unable to counter on the play.
The Palo Verde Yellowjackets won their away game by a score of 2-3 against the Holtville Vikings.[envira-gallery id=”75675″]
