Ronald “Ronnie” Lynn

August 27 – 1937 – October 6, 2016

 

Samuel Ronald Lynn was born in Alton, Illinois on August 27, 1937. He passed away in San Diego, California on October 6, 2016.

Ronnie graduated from high school in Clyde, Ohio in June of 1955. As a young man, he served two years as pastor of a mission church in Defiance, Ohio, after which he enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country for four years from 1958 to 1962. Later Ronnie finished his education, graduating from San Diego State University in 1972. Following graduation, Ronnie taught special education students in the Brawley Elementary School District for thirteen years. After his retirement, he was actively involved in the Kairos Prison Ministry for nine years, primarily at Centinela Prison.

Ronnie was an active member of Western Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years, participating in many ministries and outreach programs. Ronnie’s love for his family and his church was evident and profound. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his grandson Christopher; and his brother Ricky. He is survived by his wife Maureen; sons John, Andrew, Michael, Mark and Peter; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and brother Randy.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ronnie will be held at Western Ave. Baptist Church on Friday, October 14th at 11:00 AM.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Kairos Prison Ministry; or to the Western Ave. Baptist Church Building Fund.
