August 28, 1929 – October 24, 2016
Augustina Espinoza, 87, a lifelong resident of Brawley, passed away peacefully at her home, on October 24, 2016
Augustina “Tina” as everyone would call her, was born on August 28, 1929 to Juan and Luz Ortiz.
Tina grew up in the Imperial Valley and as the daughter of farm workers, she learned the value of hard work at an early age. She loved and honored her parents dearly by always doing her best to help them out. Having lived in Brawley her entire life she acquired many good friends over the years. She was always well liked by her neighbors and well loved by her nieces and nephews. Tina was a helpful, kind, and hardworking woman. Even thru her illness, she would always ask about the well-being of others, especially her kids.
Her graciousness and strength in times of trouble, her wisdom, her courage, her wonderful sense of humor and her unconditional love will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Mama.
She is preceded in death by both parents, sister Clara Granados, son Melton Guzman Jr. and brother Frankie Ortiz.
She is survived by husband Carmelo Espinoza, sons Salvador Espinoza and Rick Guzman, daughters Dinah Valverde, Shirley Guzman and Sandra Guzman, sisters Vera Rico, Lucy Lapeña, Sally Ornelas, and Helen Gutierrez, brother Raul Vasquez, and grandchildren Schenelle Guebara, Veronica Guzman and Angel Augustina Mungia.
