EL CENTRO – The Imperial County National Day of Prayer Task Force is pleased to invite the Imperial Valley to 2016’s “Concert of Prayer,” Thursday, May 5 at 7:00 P.M., at Christ Community Church, 580 W. Orange Avenue, El Centro, California.
This year’s event, Wake Up America, marks the 65rd Annual National Day of Prayer and the twelfth consecutive “Concert of Prayer” service sponsored by the local task force. The theme Bible verse is taken from Isaiah 58:1, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet” (NIV). The “Concert of Prayer” includes prayer and worship, bringing together a multi-generational event from throughout the Imperial Valley. Representing many denominations and backgrounds, this year’s attendees will join millions uniting in prayer in thousands of events from coast to coast.
Besides a time of prayer on seven points: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church, and Family, there will be praise and worship by Faith Assembly Church under the leadership of Monica Cardenas with pre-service music beginning at 6:30 P.M. Doors open at 6:15 P.M. KXO’s Gene Brister will once again serve as Master of Ceremonies. Seven Pastors from throughout the Imperial County will come together in prayer and unity leading us in one of the seven points.
The local National Day of Prayer activities begin with a 6:30 A.M. Prayer Breakfast, sponsored by the Salvation Army. This breakfast is open to the public, with a $10.00 donation, and will be held at the Salvation Army Community Center, 1301 South 4th St. In El Centro. Prayer Breakfast tickets can be purchased at: KGBA, KXO, and KROP radio stations. Additionally, all Imperial County youth are invited to attend “The Prayer Experience” which is being sponsored by Youth for Christ, Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M.to 9:00 P.M., to be held at the Christ Community Church East Sanctuary Youth Center.
The National Day of Prayer Task Force is the Judeo-Christian expression of the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.
