EL CENTRO — The second day of trial for defendant, Neil Evan Green, 33, continued in the murder of the El Centro man accused of beating his father to death with a baseball bat in 2012 on Thursday.
The case has no witnesses as the crime occurred allegedly at the home the father and son shared on Moiola Avenue in El Centro.
Because of the lack of witnesses, the trial is expected to be short.
After opening arguments started the prosecution began the presentation of their case against Green, Wednesday. Prosecutors say Green attacked his father for unknown reasons.
The defense is expected to let Green testify on his own behalf. Defense claims Green acted in self-defense after his father, Melvin Green, 62, began physically attacking his son at their home.
The trial will resume next week on Monday morning in Department 5 with Judge Cota presiding.
