CHP new logoOn Friday, May 23, at 8:14 a.m. , the CHP Dispatch received a call of a traffic accident with an ambulance responding at Carr Road, just west of Rood Rd.

CHP officers from the CHP Calexico Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility (CVEF)were the first to respond to the scene as well as officers from the El Centro CHP Area office.

The officers determined that the collision occurred when the 50-year-old driver, from Mexicali, of the 1988 Kawasaki motorcycle collided into the right side of the 2005 Freightliner Tractor/Trailer combination as it was making a right turn into a business driveway at 1767 Carr Rd.

CHP personnel located the Mexicali man unconscious beneath the tractor’s trailer upon their arrival.

CHP officers provided cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) prior to the arrival of Gold Cross paramedics.

Unfortunately the motorcycle rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene as a result of the traffic collision.

An inspection was performed on the tractor/trailer combination and it was determined it did not have any mechanical problems that contributed to this collision.

No arrests were made and the driver of the Freightliner tractor, Issaac Olivas Cardinas, 29, of Riverside, CA,  was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The traffic collision is still under investigation.
