Graveside services for Marlin will be held on June 1, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. at the Riverview Cemetery in the city of Brawley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Parkinson Foundation located at 200 SE 21st Street, Suite 800, Miami FL 33131
Marlin passed away on May 22, 2016 surrounded by family members.
Marlin was born on July 30, 1935 and was raised and attended Grammer school in Westminster, CA. He graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1953 and attended Orange Coast Community College.
After graduation he worked for Standard-Oil Company until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959 serving his country stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. After being discharged from the Army he came to the Imperial Valley to assist his ailing father in farming. In 1962, he married Sonja LeMert, his wife of 54 years and they worked side by side in their farming operation. Marlin did the farming and Sonja kept the books and managed the office.
Marlin was a past board member of Handlers Inc. and Imperial Grain Growers and served on the Westmorland School Board for eight years. He was a member of the Imperial County Farm Bureau.
Marlin was proceeded in death by parents W.E. and Lena, brother Carl Medearis, and in-laws Erna and Dick LeMert.
Marlin is survived by wife Sonja, son Von, brother-in-laws Ed LeMert of Julian and Robert LeMert of Riverside, 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
