Manuel M. Valdivia

Manuel Valdivia, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Pioneers Memorial Hospital. Manuel was born in Leon, Guanajuato on February 17, 1917 to Guirino and Andrea Valdivia.
When he was 3 years old his family moved to the imperial valley. He married the love of his life, Ruth Marquez in 1937 in Yuma, Arizona.
During his lifetime he worked as a migrant farm worker and as a retail clerk in various department stores. He retired from j. M. McDonalds in 1982. His greatest passion was music. He loved singing and playing the guitar at family gatherings. He played with various bands including Fred Meza, Jimmy Cannon, Hank Rossi and others.
The Memorial Service for Manuel will be held on Saturday, May 28 at St. Margaret Mary Church at 12:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Father Bernardo Lara.
The Burial will be held on Saturday, May 28 at Riverview Cemetery after the Memorial Service.
Manuel is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ruth Valdivia.
Manuel is survived by his daughters, Rose Mary Mendoza, Yolanda Garcia, Barbara (Chris) Hooks, her sons, Manuel (Anita) Valdivia, Richard (Pat) Valdivia, and Michael Valdivia. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
