EL CENTRO – Tuesday, May 28th, around 2:00 p.m., officers from the El Centro Police Department responded to an injury collision in the parking lot of a business in the 800 block of South Imperial Avenue.
A 61-year-old El Centro resident was attempting to start his Ford truck manually from under the hood. The truck was in drive when it started and began moving forward. The owner ran around the moving truck to the front bumper, trying to stop the movement of his vehicle.
He then ran to the driver’s side of the truck and that was when he was pinned between his truck and a parked, unoccupied, Kia sedan. The truck owner was able to crawl away from the wreckage.
The injured party was transported via ambulance to a nearby school campus and airlifted from there to a San Diego area hospital for treatment of external and internal injuries.
The extent of his injuries are not known.
