EL CENTRO — This year MANA de Imperial Valley will award 25 competitive college and university scholarships totaling $13,500 to local Imperial Valley Latina high school seniors and Imperial Valley College students. The 2016 MANA Scholarships will be awarded to Latina high school graduates and to two Imperial Valley College students who met the following criteria: a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent); plan to enroll in a degree seeking program at a two or four-year U.S. accredited institution during the 2016-2017 academic year; and participated in community service/school activities.
The Formal recognition of the MANA de Imperial Valley 2016 Scholarship Recipients will take place on Thursday, June 16, at 6:00 P.M. at the Imperial Valley College Room 2734, Lecture Hall 380 East Aten Road, Imperial CA 92251.

MANA, a National Latina Organization, was founded in 1974 as the Mexican-American Women’s National Association. MANA’s original intent was to provide a voice for Mexican-American women at the national, state and local levels. The organization has now expanded into a diverse group of Latinas who continue to develop their abilities in political, social and professional fields. MANA empowers Latinas through leadership development, community service and advocacy.
