Man assaulted by vehicle

el-centro-police-department logoEL CENTRO – Around 1:30 PM, on June 11th, officers from the El Centro Police Department responded to an assault call near 8th Street and Fieldview Avenue.

When the officers arrived they found the victim; a 43 year old male resident of Los Angeles suffering from minor injuries sustained when he was struck by a car driven by  28 year old Vivien Hodge of Brawley.

Witnesses told officers they saw the car driven by Hodge swerving left and right, while going southbound on 8th Street.  Near Fieldview Avenue, the male passenger exited the moving vehicle, hit the asphalt and ran across the street.  Then the driver made a u-turn and drove behind the male, striking him with her 1997 Nissan Sentra.

The victim was transported via ambulance to a local area hospital for treatment, and Hodge was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Imperial County Jail, where she remains on a bail of $50,000.00.

“There is a relationship between the victim and the suspect.  The suspect claimed she was taking the victim to the jail, so he could turn himself in for an outstanding warrant.  The victim left the hospital before police could interview him”, said Commander Jeff Mason.  An arrest warrant for the victim was discovered, and he has not yet been located.
