BRAWLEY – The MAG Coalition is seeking to help the prevention of further violence within our community by uniting as ONE to save our children from venturing into gang activity.

This past year, Martin Alberto Garza was an innocent victim of gang violence and passed away prematurely at the tender age of 17 years. The MAG Coalition was established by Martin’s family as a result of this tragic event to help prevent gang involvement through community outreach efforts. Through its fund-raising activities and generous donations, the MAG Coalition will be able to raise enough money to award several college bound students with individual scholarships in the amount of $730, $550, $430, and $73 dollars.

The MAG Coalition has partnered with The City of Brawley Parks and Recreation to use their facilities, BUHS Senior Project students, and Hacienda Snack Bar and Catering to host the first MAG Games Multi Sport Event in celebration of what would have been Martin’s 18th birthday. BUHS Seniors are organizing individual events as part of their SENIOR PROJECT. They are exemplifying their leadership and organizational skills before delving into our society as adults. It is their way of giving back to the communities that have raised them throughout their lives. Through their efforts they will stand before our youth as positive role models and leaders. It is hoped that community organizations and businesses will support their efforts by participating in the sporting events with your organization or business name to help promote your product or mission.

Organizations and businesses are invited to participate in the MAG Games Showcase that will help student & community organizations distribute information about their programs, fundraisers, vision & mission, and reach out to a broader audience. Booth space is limited.
