STILLWATER, Okla. â€“ Gabbee Lofton, Brawley, California, has beenÂ selected to serve as a student success leader (SSL) in the College ofÂ Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources for the 2015-2016 academicÂ year.
The SSLs are a select group of students passionate about agriculture andÂ natural resources, and work directly with their fellow CASNR students.Â Prospective SSLs go through a rigorous application process, training andÂ interviews before being selected for their team.
Lofton is a sophomore majoring in agricultural leadership at OklahomaÂ State University and will serve as a Success Coach for OutstandingÂ Transfers (SCOUT).
SCOUTs are a group of transfer student leaders who assist with NewÂ Transfer Student Orientation and Enrollment. They also plan professionalÂ development, academic development and social activities throughout theÂ year for transfer students to connect at OSU.
â€œThe SSLs are vital to the success of CASNR students before, duringÂ and after their college experience,â€ said Cynda Clary, CASNR associateÂ dean of academic programs. â€œThey operate at such a high caliber andÂ all of itâ€™s on a volunteer basis. They put their time, energy and
passion into serving their peers to the best of their abilities. This isÂ truly an outstanding program full of remarkable students.â€
