IMPERIAL â€“Â Beginning August 1, Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE)Â be hosting a week-long training at Imperial Valley College for local elementary and secondary teachers. The program, PRIME (Precision and Rigor In Mathematics Education), is part of a three year grant for training local teachers. PRIME training will continue after this week throughout the school year in various professional development trainings often after school or on the weekends.
This is the kick-off of the second year of the PRIME training program and the results from last year have been very encouraging according to the Imperial County Office of Education. A notable focus of PRIME has been the emphasis on instructional techniques that impact how teachers teach the subject of Math verses just more knowledge about the subject.
This weekâ€™s training will be initiated with a well-known educator and speaker, Julie Adams. Ms. Adams is the founder of Adams Educational Consulting (AEC), and is an international educational consultant providing training and coaching to both public and private K-12 schools in the areas of: critical thinking, neuroscience, digital literacy, instructional leadership, content area literacy and writing.
